ASUU VS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
I don’t want to waste time giving details of 2009
agreement between ASUU and FG, I try looking at the issue that had made we
students stay at home for two months now without being subjective but I had no
choice to sound both subjective and objective don’t mind me of those two
concepts ‘subjective and objective’’ that is what social work has taught me
when looking at issues , I believe ASUU has right to go on strike as long as
they want, also I believe FG has the responsibility to meet the demands of ASUU
because they are there to serve the interest of the nation. ASUU is serving the
interest of Nigerian students by impacting knowledge and understanding to us
students and I think we students should pause and think for a moment and be
sincere with ourselves, let ask ourselves these important questions.
11. Do
you like coming to class and feeling hot without any fan or air condition to
keep your body and brain cool?
22. Do
you like the fact that you have 8.00am class you arrived at the venue in 7.30am
to discover there is no seat to sit all the seat has be occupied by your course
mates some were even standing even lapping?
33. Do
you like the fact that you are studying a course like computer science in
university you can’t even create a folder?
44. Do
you like the fact you gain admission to university and from your first year to
third year you don’t have accommodation on campus?
55. Do
you like the fact that your lecturer is teaching without a good public address
system and he/she is teaching a class of over 150 students not to talk of carry
over students taking that particular lecturer course?
66. Your lecturers took their precious time to
prepare for lectures ( I mean good lecturers) some even went their way to
conduct research and at the end of their labor there is no pay. Imagine your parents
were lecturers and their profession is the source of living, how will you feel
if they can’t meet your needs?
77. Many
of us students can see our lecturers with worn-out clothes and shoes even some
die on the job. Have you ever pause and ask yourself what wrong?
Well the list goes on
and on, you can add your own to the list, so if the striking lecturers say they
won’t go back to class I say they shouldn't We Nigerian youth know how bad
Nigeria government is, the lies of the FG is so obvious and statistic has shown
that these present government has no quality and quantity working plans for
education and lives of the youth. We student want ASUU to call off the strike, if
ASUU calls off the strike don’t forget that those ASO CLAY wont honor ASUU’s
demand, it has happened before and it will happen again. Am not happy with the
condition of education in Nigeria and it pains my heart to hear students
begging ASUU to call off strike it shows we students are comfortable with the
half bake education we are receiving and happy if FG didn’t honor these
agreement. Again, I believe in civil disobedient if it’s meant for public good
and the promotion of the welfare of the masses, we students should stop begging
ASUU and let fight alongside with ASUU against those BAD EGGS at ASO CLAY.
