LOVE FEVER
Wow I always look forward to weekend I don’t know
why I look forward to weekend and sometimes I wonder why the white man called
the concept “weekend”, well to me I love weekend the week is about to end just
two days in the weekend to do whatever I wish to do, the things I don’t have
time to do in the course of the week just two days Saturday and Sunday. This
two days I can make phone calls, ping my friends, sleep shall not pass me by,
food on point, church that is for sure my spiritual responsibility. Well that
is the not the point I want to make here , have been thinking of what to write
because my mind have been asking various fundamental questions and the questions
are “ how could a 15 years old girl get
pregnant for a guy who has no plan of fathering a child and the guy would deny
the pregnancy?” again I still ask another question “ how on earth a lady fall
in love with a guy just two weeks she gain admission to university just to
found out they have broken up before the semester ends?”. The answer to these
questions is “LOVE” well like they always say it was love
that made all that happen.
In my quest
to uncover this type of love from the above questions I discover it was
not just love or maybe I should change the word to something that is more
harmful “LOVE FEVER’”. No one like to get sick that is true and everyone tries
to avoid being sick, fever is a common disease that we all know and if an
individual contact fever the symptoms is complex my purpose is not to focus on
the scientific context of fever. Am here to shed light on social aspect of love
fever, the contemporary Nigerian society cannot ignore the social consequences
of falling in love well I don’t like the
word “fall in love” many young guys and ladies between the age of 14-19 years are
beginning to get themselves involve in intimate relationship without
understanding the social consequences of
their actions many of this adolescence felt they are in love and truly i
believe that they are in love but in the
wrong way for the wrong reason because love is also an emotion but more of action which they
don’t understand. Let me explain briefly, one of my female friend said this to
me years back “ I can’t date in my teens years because everything in teens
stage is flashy” I believe this to be true young people that are in intimate
relationship are experiencing a kind of love that will result in fever, this kind of love is only for the
moment because it seek for its own interest. I write this to the Nigerian youth
in order for to know that loving someone because he or she is handsome or
beautiful, loving someone because the person has material things to offer,
loving someone because the person is brilliant, smart or wear good clothes will
only result in fever which the symptoms are adoption, risk sexual behavior,
substance abuse, breakup, emotional baggage even death.
My friends let me use this moment to say Love is
good and fun if only you can wait to understand it and give it time to grow. If
you find yourself attracted to someone which is good and ok I employ to take a
moment and ask yourself why did I feel for this person if your reasons are of
good motive I will say it cool to get to close to the person and in getting close to the person your purpose
should be to know more and understand the inner state of mind of the person,
like the adage that says “ you can judge a book by its cover” you need to know
the content of the person you are getting close to or getting close to you .
And how can you do that you need to ask the person questions, questions like
what your plan, goals, dreams, and purpose in life, research on the background
of the person, watch out for the kind of friends the person keeps, visit
his/her home and observe the kind of relationship that exist in that home, watch
out for how he/she respond or react to strangers, check for things that ginger
him/her. If you can do these few things and follow these guide you will save
yourself from experiencing LOVE FEVER.
