Shola Ameobi comes on for his competitive debut for Nigeria. The Newcastle man has replaced goal scorer Emmanuel Emenike in attack

Ahmed Musa's battle with the Malawi goalkeeper continues but he's unable to score again in one on one situation
65
Enyeama has had to make two key saves for the Eagles as the Flames have not given up on this encounter. Surely the Nigerians will try to kill off this encounter with a third goal before they start showboating
60
Nigeria content to pass around and try to further open up the Malawian defence.
57
Crowd really working it now, cheering the Eagles and booing the Flames. Can't blame them, delirium at its height. But let's remain fair to the visitors .
54
Flourishing attack from Nigeria now as Musa gets fouled on the edge and Limbikani Mzava is sent off for a second yellow card. It gets tougher for the Flames now

GOAL! Nigeria win a penalty as Oduamadi was brought down and Moses steps up to shoot and score. 2-0!

Musa misses a one on one opportunity with the goalkeeper who gathers safely to keep the Flames in the game. Shortly afterwards Emenike is denied by the same man goalkeeper Simplex

Second half kicks off with the Eagles looking to consolidate while the Flames search for an equaliser and the unthinkable winner? Hmm
@LAYHAM09 responds: It's not possible for the MALAWIANS to defeat NIGERIA (the Champion of Africa)... To me the score line will end 3-0 in favor of NIG"
Tough words coming through from Malawian @iceking_mw: "You will remember this day as the day Malawi reduced Nigeria to a 3-1 margin. flames all the way." Glad that our visitors are connecting even though it is really hard to see them taking this game.
Comments coming in... @iam_bush paints with words: "That defense splitting pass from Onazi happens to be the highlight of that Emenike's goal"
What a half, Emenike returned to the side with a massive goal that should calm the nerves of the hosts. Despite resolute defending from the Malawians, they allowed the Fenerbahce striker sneak in behind them to score that goal and make their task of qualifying for the play offs tougher. Not only do the Malawians need to equalise in the second half, they require a win if they are to make the play offs. Can it be done? Will the Eagles score more? Talk to me via @jololade

GOAL! Emenike scores just as the half petered out, he got a cross from Onazi and he shot past Simplex Nthara for the Super Eagles to take the lead.

Mikel wins a free kick on the edge of the Malawi box. Oboabona comes up for it and gets a foul on the Malawian wall whose player broke the wall. Mikel takes it the second time but shoots wide of the mark
38
Malawi counter attack after Mikel gives away the ball from a corner kick. Oboabona helps to clear but fouls his man as Nyondo wins another corner kick for the Flames
36
Malawi win a free kick right in front of the Nigeria box. Nyondo's kick goes high and wide. Respite for Enyeama who has not had much to do unlike his opposite number
34
Ambrose sees his shot parried out by Simplex after he profited from Musa's cut back. The Malawian goalie in inspired form so far
31
Ahmed Musa goes for some cold water to cool the nerves, surely things are hotting up out on the pitch as expectations continue to soar up in the stands
28
Anticipation of a goal from the near capacity crowd in the stadium, their voices rising at every opportunity made by the Eagles
26
Moses shuffles and dribbles but is unable to break the defence of the Flames. A corner kick to Nigeria sees Moses hit the side netting for another corner. Surely something must give soon.
25
Malawi win a corner kick after attacking from the left. Resultant kick is cleared by Nigeria
23
Two minutes of possession and prodding by the Eagles ends up going into touch as the Eagles try to cope with the slippery pitch
20
Resultant corner kick is nodded wide by Ambrose who was blocked by goalkeeper Simplex
19
Free kick to Nigeria as Oduamadi is brought down but Emenike's shot is blocked for a corner kick
18
Moses has seen his tantalising cross go wide without any Nigerian to strike home
14
Real scare for Vincent Enyeama as the Flames showed that they can give as much as they are getting out there.

Musa saw an opportunity declared offside as he was released by Mikel. Onazi's shot also went just wide as the Nigerians continue in search of an early goal with this very attack-minded formation.
8
The action has been flowing evenly thus far, with Nigeria hugging most of the possession however, they are yet to create clear cut opportunities to punish Simplex in the Malawi goal.

This game has been lively so early with Moses winning a free kick which then fell to Ahmed Musa but was shot over the bar. Lots of intent on the side of the Eagles
