At least six people were killed when some unidentified gunmen invaded Yola, the Adamawa State capital, Thursday night unleashing terror on the inhabitants.During the attack which lasted several hours, thegunmen suspected to be members of Islamist sect Boko Haram killed no fewer than six people,while many others sustained injuries.
According to an eyewitness, a large number of the insurgents stormed the popular Kasuwar Gwari Market along Mubi Bypass, where they identified their targets and shot them at close range.
The army later launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspected Boko Haram members, leading to the closure of all roads leading to and from the state capital.
When journalists contacted the Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brigadier General Fattai Alli, he declined comments on the issue, saying he was too busy to talk to the press.
The Federal Government had announced the renewal of the six months state of emergency imposed on Adamawa alongside Borno and Yobe States due to activities of Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East part of the country
