Nigeria’s military authorities admitted on Monday it lost as many as
15 men during last Friday’s attack by the militant Boko Haram Islamic
sect in Bama, Borno State.
A statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Major
General Chris Olukolade, said over 50 members of the sect were killed in
the attack, and over 20 vehicles of their vehicles destroyed.
Several insurgents escaped with bullet wounds while some have been
arrested, the statement said, and intensive cordon and search operations
are ongoing to fish out the insurgents who might be lurking around
communities in the area.
