Musa’s lone strike in the 11th minute was all CSKA Moscow needed to
beat visiting Kuban Krasnodar on Sunday and temporarily take them to the
top of the Russian league.
CSKA Moscow now have 11 points from five matches.
The former JUTH and Kano Pillars star told MTNFootball.com he was delighted with his match winner.
“I am excited with the goal; it was an
important one for us as we won the game. I will keep doing my best for
my club to see that we win our games. I am just doing my job to the best
of my ability. It was not an easy match,” he said.
Musa returned to Russia to join his team on Friday night after helping Nigeria to beat South Africa in a friendly on Wednesday.
It was not a story of jubilation for
Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, as his club Fenerrbahce went down 3-2
to Konyaspor in the Turkish league on Saturday
Yobo, who opened scoring for his side in the encounter, was disappointed with the eventual outcome of the game.
“I wish my goal gave us all the three points,” he said.
“It’s really a tough situation. We have learnt our lessons and we need to fix ourselves. We were disappointed.
“We have to put this defeat behind us
and now hope to get victory against Arsenal (in the UEFA Champions
League playoff match on Wednesday).”
Striker Emmanuel Emenike made his debut
for Fenerbahce in the game but failed to find the back of the net
despite playing full time.
Emenike made a return to the Istanbul club from Russian side, Spartak Moscow, for €13m early this month.
Emenike reportedly missed several scoring chances that could have given Fenerbahce an easy win.
The 26-year-old was unfortunate not to
win a penalty for Fenerbahce in the first half as he was cynically
hacked down by two Konyaspor defenders, Ali Turan and Selim Ay.
